When it comes to job and internship search preparation, students consistently point to practice interviews as the thing that made the difference. The effects go beyond just building confidence. Students leave these exercises with actionable insights that can make a dramatic effect on their performance.
And this fall, we need your help to give students the opportunity to practice with Bay Area professionals.

What to Expect
To participate as a mock interviewer, all you need is some professional experience and an interest in helping out. No hiring experience is necessary. Our team of career specialists will provide all volunteers with interview templates and detailed guidance on how to conduct the session and offer feedback.
It’s your choice how much time you’d like to volunteer, and on what schedule. You can also choose the interview formats you feel comfortable with: behavioral, technical, or resumé review.
Interviews will be scheduled between volunteers and their matched student(s) any time between October 26 and November 20, 2026.
How You Make an Impact
You can offer incredible value to students just from your vantage point as a person working in their field or industry. Many of our students are entering a new professional context: they may be changing industries or fields, looking for their first professional job, or looking for an internship after moving to the U.S. only recently. The context that you bring to the conversation can be impactful.
Some of the details that can make a difference in a young professional’s interview success:
- Practice telling their own story and defining their successes
- Learning where to use specific vocabulary from the field
- Gaining insight into the relationships between different professional roles
- Identifying gaps in their technical skills that they can work to fill
- Understanding differences in interview expectations across cultures, industries, and job functions
