Silicon Valley Team Feature: Natasha Odama

by Jussara Oliveira Barbosa, MS in Project Management ’25

As the Associate Director of Career Development and Experiential Learning for the Silicon Valley campus, Natasha Odama is passionate about helping students achieve their professional aspirations. With a bachelor’s degree in psychology from San Francisco State University and a master’s in organization and leadership from the University of San Francisco, Natasha’s career exemplifies the transformative power of education and meaningful connections.

Natasha finds her role particularly fulfilling as it allows her to connect with students from diverse backgrounds, many of whom are embarking on transformative life changes to pursue their passions. In today’s competitive job market, especially in the Bay Area and California’s tech sector, students are facing increased competition for jobs. Natasha acknowledges that it’s not easy for students right now but remains committed to equipping them with effective job search strategies and tools to strengthen their durable skills.

Prior to her current role, Natasha built extensive experience at the University of San Francisco, where she managed student recruitment, advising, and career planning for both undergraduate and graduate students. Her earlier work in the private sector gave her valuable insights into workforce trends and organizational needs, which she now leverages to guide students as they prepare for their professional journeys.

“Every student’s journey is a unique story waiting to unfold,” Natasha shares. Her own story is one of self-discovery. After starting her career in the corporate world, she sought a more purposeful path and transitioned into higher education. This decision was reinforced by a graduate school course on campus climate in higher education, which affirmed her passion for creating inclusive, impactful learning experiences.

Natasha was drawn to Northeastern University’s focus on experiential learning and community engagement, particularly through cooperative education. Among her proudest achievements is helping to plan and execute the campus’s first mock interview event, which connected students with industry professionals. This event grew even larger the following year, thanks to her leadership and the support of her team, receiving glowing feedback from both students and volunteers.

Promoting diversity and creating inclusive spaces remain central to Natasha’s work. She continually seeks opportunities to deepen her knowledge in these areas, understanding their critical importance to students, faculty, and staff alike.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Natasha enjoys spending time with her family, hiking, and baking. Her advice to students and colleagues? “Be kind to yourself. It may be difficult to remember but always give yourself grace. Positive self-talk can remind you that you’re worthy.”
