Biography
Mamoun Abu-Samaha joined the faculty of Northeastern University in Silicon Valley in 2025. He is a distinguished technology leader, professor, and entrepreneur whose career spans academia, industry, and startups. He currently serves as a Professor of Computer Science & Software Engineering at California State University, Sacramento, and as Technology Strategy & IP Commercialization Advisor at Xpedite Solutions. Over the course of his career, Dr. Abu-Samaha has held executive roles including Enterprise CTO at Motorola Mobility during its transition to Google, Wireless & Mobility CTO at Hewlett-Packard, and Co-Founder and Chief System Architect Officer at MobiWee, where he spearheaded innovation in cloud services, mobility, and cybersecurity.
Originally from Palestine and raised in Jordan, Dr. Abu-Samaha pursued his academic journey internationally, earning a PhD in Electrical & Computer Engineering from International Technological University in San Jose, a Master’s in Electronics from Eindhoven University of Technology in the Netherlands, and a Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering from the University of Jordan. His global background has shaped both his professional vision and teaching approach, emphasizing real-world application of advanced technologies like AI, ML, cybersecurity, industrial automation, and enterprise architecture.
Dr. Abu-Samaha has also developed cutting-edge Educational Management and Learning Management Systems, combining his technical expertise with a passion for education. He holds multiple U.S. patents in mobile communications and is a certified expert in ethical hacking, threat intelligence, and encryption.
Outside of work, he enjoys sports and outdoor activities. A former member of the Jordan national volleyball team, he now spends his free time fishing and enjoying water sports with his children. These pursuits reflect his belief in balance, family, and the joy of learning through exploration.
