This edition, we are excited to introduce Seblewongel Ayalew, known to many as Seble, the Associate Director of Operations and Interim Assistant Dean at Northeastern University’s Silicon Valley campus. Seble brings a wealth of experience and leadership to her multifaceted role, overseeing vital aspects of campus operations, including risk management, health and safety, technology administration, and campus events. Her dedication and proactive approach have been essential to maintaining the seamless functioning of the campus and fostering an environment of collaboration and efficiency.

In her current position, Seble plays a critical role in bridging departments, facilitating communication between faculty and staff, and driving forward key initiatives. Whether launching new programs or managing complex projects, her ability to lead interdepartmental efforts has helped the university continue to thrive. “I’m proud to lead and facilitate many interdepartmental initiatives, fostering collaboration and communication,” she shared, reflecting on the rewarding and dynamic nature of her work.

Seble’s commitment to operational excellence is matched by her resilience in facing challenges head-on. From ensuring the smooth execution of projects to tackling the intricacies of interdepartmental communication, Seble’s approach is rooted in her strong problem-solving abilities and positive attitude. She sees every obstacle as an opportunity for growth, making her a pivotal force in the university’s operational success.

One of her most cherished achievements in her role was leading the 2024 commencement ceremony. The immense effort and coordination required to pull off such a large-scale event culminated in a moment of pride and joy for Seble, as she watched students cross the stage to receive their diplomas. This experience, she says, remains one of the most fulfilling aspects of her career.

Beyond the campus, Seble is an avid reader and enjoys long walks that allow her to recharge and reflect. Two books have had a significant influence on her: Transitions: Making Sense of Life’s Changes by William Bridges, which helped her navigate personal and professional shifts with grace, and Meditations by Marcus Aurelius, which continues to inspire her to focus on what truly matters and remain mindful in all that she does.

Seble’s forward-looking mindset includes a strong interest in how artificial intelligence is shaping the future of education. “I firmly believe in the value of lifelong learning,” she says, always eager to explore new innovations that enhance the learning experience.

Through her leadership, Seble Ayalew continues to make a lasting impact on the Silicon Valley campus, bringing vision, collaboration, and an unwavering dedication to her role.
