Intro to R – Why it’s awesome and how you can learn it

R was ranked the top data analytics tool in 2016 and its popularity is growing amongst individuals as well as companies from Facebook to OkCupid to the FDA. Join us for a lesson in applied learning as Data Scientist Jim Knapik gives an introduction to R and shares a case study on how R helped him train for (and win!) a half Ironman Triathlon.
In today’s increasingly competitive, technology-driven global environment, where business data across all companies is estimated to double every 1.2 years, and the public sector is building enormous data infrastructures, the ability to manage and analyze large volumes of data is critical to growth, innovation, and productivity in every field. From finding cures for cancer to plotting more efficient service delivery routes, from predicting crime hot spots in our cities to pinpointing marketing efforts, industries need individuals with the curiosity, creativity, knowledge, and skills to analyze and model complex datasets and draw actionable insights.
